Total books read, 88. Total pages, which is what I go by, 29,170. It breaks down to 70 fiction and 18 nonfiction books, which is a little on the high side for fiction for me. 64 books were read in e-format, a number that continues ( Read more... )

I read John Scalzi's nonfiction essay collections "Your Hate Mail Will Be Graded" and (on the business of writing) "You Aren't Fooling Anyone When You Take Your Laptop To A Coffee Shop. Our Chocolate Lab who had a leg amputated last fall due to cancer is failing fast. This morning he was obviously in a lot more pain even with the vet-prescribed meds, It's time.

The surgery was absolutely worth it, btw. It gave him seven or eight months more of active, happy, pain-free life than he otherwise would have had. That's a major chunk of ( Read more... )

Fannish: I continue to enjoy Leverage but it's clearly not going to replace The Middleman for me personally either as an affair-of-the-heart intense fandom or as a source of fanfic ideas. The Boy is back to some of his old behavioral tricks at school, e.g. refusing to do his work. Things were going much better for a while there, sigh. Supportive Teacher is still supportive.

Took the kids to my Dad's house today, since they aren't back in school yet and therefore I can do the drive. Took everyone including my  Dad to Target and helped him buy an HDTV to replace his nasty old tube one that will stop working with broadcast tv six weeks from now. Today is my thirteenth wedding anniversary, date chosen in part because it was also my mother's birthday. Her last birthday, as it turned out.

Three dogs, one cat, two kids and umpteen collected books later, I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
